Born in Spain, our founder Don Andres Brugal was ambitious and adventurous, drawn to the possibilities of the Dominican Republic to realise his full potential. There he found all the right elements to make superior rum, and saw the potential to connect the different parts of the rum-making process in his own unique way to unlock a new deeper, smoother rum with the power to bring people together. In 1888 Brugal was born and from that day forward, we have continued to bring out the best of our cask aged Dominican rum.

During the second half of the nineteenth century, Andres Brugal Montaner, born in Sitges, Spain, immigrated to Cuba and later moved to the Dominican Republic where he established residence in Puerto Plata.

With experience in the development of rum he had acquired in Cuba, he founded Brugal & Company. Thus began the industry of rum in the Dominican Republic and the saga of a long family tradition.

Enjoy this rum with a little ginger beer and a slice of lime. It also mixes well with almost any tropical fruit.
